The study by Anatoli Unitsky and his co-authors is published in the Bulletin of the Belarusian State University of Transport. The paper examines the impact of external factors on the probability of resonance in a string – rolling stock system.
The combination of rigidity and flexibility of the string rail track structure together with high speeds of uPods movement, as well as the features of the location of elements of the uST transport and infrastructure complex, lead to fluctuations in various planes and with different frequencies. This can provoke a resonance.
The authors of the article analyzed the swaying string rail overpass and proved that even with the combined influence of external factors, including wind loads, the occurrence of resonance is highly unlikely.
