Author of Trillion-Dollar Technology: Interesting Facts about Anatoli Unitsky

For the anniversary of the General Designer of UST Inc. we have prepared a selection of some interesting facts from his biography.

Anatoli Unitsky is the author of more than 200 inventions, over 200 scientific papers and 20 monographs. What else do we know about the author of string transport?

Fact 1

The concept of hypervelocity transportation in a vacuum tube was presented by Anatoli Unitsky long before the Hyperloop came into existence. More than 40 years ago, the engineer proposed to connect London and New York by an underwater route with a vacuum tunnel in the Atlantic Ocean at a depth of 50 meters. The travel time along such a route would be up to 6 hours, which is faster than by airplane.

Fact 2

Anatoli Unitsky comes from the Belarusian village of Kryuki, which was destroyed by Chernobyl: its inhabitants were given 24 hours to leave, and now it is part of the exclusion zone. After this tragedy, Anatoli Unitsky started to actively develop environmentally friendly technologies.

Fact 3

The General Planetary Vehicle (GPV) developed by Anatoli Unitsky for the delivery of passengers and cargo to near space is estimated by an independent expert organization at more than 500 trillion dollars. By the way, the GPV runs on electricity and, unlike rockets, does not cause any harm to the environment.

Fact 4

Anatoli Unitsky corresponded with the famous writer Arthur C. Clarke, the author of space-themed novels. The engineer told him about his project of the General Planetary Vehicle, and the writer replied: "Act! Victory is achieved by the persistent and purposeful. I believe that you are one of them."

Fact 5

Anatoli Unitsky received two UN grants — in 1998 and 2002. These funds were used to conduct an international expertise, after which string transport got recommendations for practical application in the global market of transportation services.

Fact 6

Anatoli Unitsky's development was presented to the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev in 2009. He evaluated string transport as a serious innovation and instructed the Ministry of Transportation to find a billion rubles for the technology. However, the funds were never allocated for some reason.

Fact 7

String transport is only a part of Anatoli Unitsky's technological complex. Initially, the engineer imagined a planet-wide vehicle, which requires a special overpasse girdling the planet along the equator for takeoff and landing. The lower part of the overpass is just designed for string transport. Moreover, this road will harmoniously fit into special eco-settlements — linear cities. Plants, vegetables and fruits will be grown on the roofs of houses in such cities using environmentally friendly fertilizer — uTerra soil elixir.
