In the proceedings of the 5th International Scientific and Practical Conference “Current Issues of Transport in the 21st Century”, a research article by Anatoli Unitsky and UST Inc.’s specialists has been published. The study focuses on the application of uST solutions for cargo transportation in the Kuzbass region.
Kemerovo Oblast is among the largest coal-mining regions in Russia. However, its development is significantly constrained by the limited throughput capacity of its transport infrastructure. Increasing production volumes, the region’s remoteness from export ports, and the high proportion of logistics costs in overall production costs require the development of new transport solutions.
The authors of the study examine the potential application of uST transport and infrastructure complexes for the transportation of coal, ore, crushed stone, and other mineral resources. The proposed solutions include specialized uPods: uCont for containerized cargo, uTruck for bulk cargo, and uTrans for continuous transport of large volumes of loose bulk materials.
According to the researchers, uST technology can significantly improve the efficiency of cargo transportation in the region. String transport systems ensure minimal land acquisition for track construction and have a low environmental impact. The increased safety of uPod operations is achieved through an automated control system. Additional advantages of uST complexes include their ability to operate in harsh climatic conditions, high line throughput capacity, and energy efficiency.
The authors conclude that the introduction of string technologies could serve as a tool for developing transport logistics in Kuzbass. This approach is expected to support an increase in mineral extraction and enhance the region’s export capacity.
